Start a hub or network
We’re thrilled that you are interested in starting an IDG Hub or Network! Before you register as a new hub coordinator, there are a few requirements and some important information to know.
Hub requirements
- There must be at least 3 people organising locally and/or around a theme.
- Have 2–3 coordinator/contact persons, including a lead coordinator.
- Meet with some regularity to work with the IDG skills (minimum 4 times per year).
- Have public contact information of the lead, location and Hub/Network name (and theme) on the IDG homepage.
- Be open for new members to join and collaborate with local and global networks.
Naming the hub
Use a name that is true to the hub you are creating.
We want a nomenclature that lets people find hubs and networks with ease and clarity. Names use the format IDG + Location + Theme + Hub/Network, e.g. IDG Mumbai Musicians Hub or IDG Global Practitioners Network. A hub is generally connected to a location; a network works across geographical borders.
The theme specifies each hub’s purpose, minimises unnecessary exclusion and unwarranted claims, and opens up for more targeted hubs that provide specific value to those who want to join. Any individual may be a member of several hubs and networks.
If you have no particular theme, the default is Community, but then the location must be a specific town or city, not a whole country or region, e.g. IDG Johannesburg Community Hub.
Examples that work well: IDG Rome U.Lab Hub, IDG Vienna Community Hub, IDG Global Practitioners’ Network. Collaboration between hubs within a country or region is named IDG + Region/country + Hubs + Collaboration, e.g. IDG North American Hubs Collaboration.
Support for the hub
- Admission to online community events.
- Access to the global coordinator community via HowSpace.

- News updates and invitations to global events.
- Access to resources and links on idg.community, and visibility with contact info on innerdevelopmentgoals.org.
- Access to tools and methods on idg.tools.
